I have so many thoughts about this, but let’s start with why I LOVE Her Campus Media so much. What so many of us never talk about is how your college experience does not actually set you up for the real world. Growing up, our parents told us: work hard, get good grades, go to college, and you will be set. However, that is no longer the case.

The reality…

I remember going to college and watching people who FAILED a class I got an A in landing internships at major companies like Fidelity. In addition, I was very involved in extracurriculars/clubs. From becoming the VP of Philanthropy for my sorority to helping launch a data analytics club that we evolved into a credited course, and I was elected as the VP of Marketing for this organization. STILL, I was passed over for SO many roles; I simply did not know the right people.

How HCM helps prepare students

Her Campus Media helps teach college students about the world of marketing, influencers, and branding in a practical setting, giving them hands-on experience before even walking across the stage to get their diplomas. As you can tell, I have a deep personal connection to this. The start of your career is very challenging, and simply going to college and getting good grades does not cut it anymore. I am passionate about any organization that helps set young adults (especially females) up for success early in their careers.

Her Campus Conference

So, let’s dive into Her Campus Media’s recent Her Conference, which seemed to be nothing short of epic. HC alumni flocked to NYC for the 10th annual #HerConference, which also fell on the brand’s 15th anniversary. Needless to say, celebrations were in order. Every piece of content surrounding the event was beautifully crafted, and the event itself looked like one for the books.

With sponsors from major brands like Amazon, CVS Pharmacy, Dove, Hallmark Cards, The Honey Pot Company, LIPTON Teas and Infusions, and Microsoft, the interactive booths were next level. From an aesthetically staged dorm by Amazon to tea samples from Lipton and card writing with Hallmark, there was plenty to do for the other 500 attendees. In addition, these displays were Instagram-ready, the perfect place to capture a photo with your HC buddy. I definitely envied anyone who was in attendance and must give a massive applause to HCM for planning, executing, and marketing the event.
